Debra Meehl, D.D.
Nationally recognized educator, pastoral counselor, and author of The Friends and Family Bipolar Survival Guide, Debra, is an Intensively trained Dialectical Behavior Skills Trainer. She is the founder and President of the Meehl Foundation Intensively Trained DBT Team, that was trained at Behavioral Tech in Seattle Washington.

Debra, speaks at national conferences around the U.S. on the topic “Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder with Substance Abuse.” She teaches, works, and lives the Dialectical Behavioral principles,while operating The Meehl Foundation.
Lawrence V. Tucker, M.D.
Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, practicing in pharmacological management of psychiatric disorders including attention deficit disorder, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, brain SPECT imaging, as well as addictionol
ogy. He has also been involved in research involving traumatic brain injuries and Sports Psychiatry. He is a distinguished member of the International Society of Sports Psychiatry.
Dr. Tucker’s training in and research in traumatic brain injuries and Sports Psychiatry led him to develop and interest into Single Photon Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging. He trained under Dr. Amen and was the Medical Director of Mind Matters of Texas, which was an Amen affiliated SPECT imaging center, before establishing his own private clinic in Plano, Texas. He has contributed and co-authored a book titled, “Failure to launch”.
Dr. Tucker has a special passion for treating people with Mood Disorders and Personality Disorders for the Meehl Foundation Team of professionals. His paradigm of treatment is that he: “Treats a person Not a Diagnosis!” He uses a holistic model and incorporates exercise, diet, therapy, supplements, as well as psychopharmacological therapies.

Dauphine Billingsley is a passionate and solution focused Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor, who has recently joined the nationally recognized Meehl Foundation Dialectical Behavioral Team.
As an Intensively trained DBT Therapist Dauphine, specializes in Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Substance Abuse and is the Program Director of the Meehl Foundations residential and Out-Patient Services. Uniquely, Dauphine spent the first 15+ years of her working career in law enforcement before entering the field of mental health. She, therefore, is able to combine her past experience as a Juvenile Probation Officer/Supervision Officer with her clinical training and expertise to help families identify, achieve and maintain the traits of a healthy family.
Additionally, Dauphine is an educator for the Houston Community College System and motivational speaker. Dauphine has spent the past 3 years working with Community Mental Health Centers, Partial Hospitalization Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs as a the Director of Clinical Affairs and/or Compliance Consultant.
As a part of THE MEEHL FOUNDATIONS Dialectical Behavioral Team, Dauphines focus is aligned with the Foundations mission of Helping Clients and Their Families Create “Lives Worth Living”.

Danie’ le Fuller, LCDC-I – Residential Coordinator
Danie’le Fuller is a driven and dedicated Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern. She has taken and passed her Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor State Licensing exam for the state of Texas; this ranks her as a third level intern.
Danie’le has recently joined the Meehl Foundation DBT treatment team. Danie’le is trained in DBT skills training and Dr. Amen’s brain healthy treatment approaches which allow clients to gain and maintain a “Life Worth Living” by doing what is effective for them.
She enjoys teaching educational groups with clients in a wholistic healing environment provided at the Meehl Foundation. Additionally, Danie’le is intensively trained in the KSA’s: clinical evaluation, treatment planning, referral, service coordination, counseling, client, family and community education, documentation, and professional and ethical responsibilities.
Danie’le is looking forward to reaching her next goal of attaining her Licensed Professional Counselor certification (LPC) and then aspires to work towards her PsyD. in Counseling Psychology.
Leah Harper Bowron, JD, MA – Peer Support
Leah Harper Bowron is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama (B.A. 1979) and a member of Phi Beta Kappa; Psi Chi, the psychology honorary; Dobro Slovo, the Russian language honorary; the English Honors program; and the Women’s Honors program.
She studied British literature at the University of Edinburgh during the summer of 1979. She received a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1983 and was a Hugo Black scholar. She was a member of the Alabama Law Review and published the article “Coming of Age in Alabama: Ex parte Devine Abolishes the Tender Years Presumption,” 34 Ala. L. Rev. 305 (1983). She became a member of the Alabama Bar in 1983 and practiced law for several years.
She received an M.A. in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2013. Her hobby is cryptology.
Kristin Smith, Meehl House Manager
Certified Professional Life Coach with over five years of experience in transitional mental health, and several supplementary credentials which help her aid clients and their families to effectively navigate the unique challenges before them. As a yoga & mindfulness instructor, intensively trained DBT skills trainer, and ordained interfaith minister, Kristin takes a holistic, solution focused approach to coaching.
As an Amen Brain Healthy coach, Kristin blends philosophy and neuroscience to guide clients toward a brain optimized state; to manage change and maximize life – right now. This distinctive approach provides profound insight and practical advice to maximize the potential of making minor adjustments to your current lifestyle, and offers pragmatic, reality – based plans to support these adjustments. Clients are coached on the connection between physical and emotional health, using neuroscience to affect change, food as “medicine”, and mindfulness to creatively adapt to the lifestyle you desire. Clients are encouraged to move into a life that is energized, resilient, productive and optimized.
Penny Watson- Residential Cook
Attended Jr. College to obtain a degree in English with a minor in Sociology, Penny has always had an interest in helping others.
In August 2011 Penny admitted herself into Intra Care North in Houston, TX for a medication change, followed by a six week stay in Menninger, and four months stay with the Meehl Foundation. She was able to make such an amazing turn around she became employed in April of 2012 as the House Manager. Penny lives and practices DBT every day and is the Meehl Foundation Cook. Penny is trained in the “Amen Brain Healthy program” and fixes these meals for the Meehl House. Penny take her job very seriously and considers each client unique “I want to give back someone’s life and enable then to see living is possible again!”
Penny and her family now live in the Alvin area with their four cats. She enjoys reading, Photography, and a variety of music. She is currently on medical leave with her 3rd pregnancy. You go girl!
Walter L. Nystrom, MA, LPC, LCDC
Walter has had a broad experience in working in the mental health field. He Received his B.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation on 12/1977. Walter continued his education in acquiring is M.A. in Clinical Psychology with emphasis in behavioral medicine.
Other qualifications obtained in his professional/educational career are certifications as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) and as a Biofeedback Therapist. Walter’s broad experience in practicing in the field has included five years as a sub-care worker in Child Protective Services and seven years as a Biofeedback Therapist at Hermann Hospital: Multi-Disciplinary Pain Center. As well he has spent over two years as an Adult/ Forensic Counselor at the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas and worked at psychiatric day hospitals and other private practices.
Walter was drawn to the Meehl Foundation due to its integrated holistic approach and specialization in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Walter is a Meehl Foundation addiction therapist trained in DBT.
Rowan de Meehl – Resident French Bulldog
Received a special degree in canine companionship from Sorbonne. Rowan has extremely sensitive sensibilities and can detect a resident’s slightest whimper in a second.
He is very affectionate when “sofa therapy” is in session, and he particularly enjoys watching The Dog Whisperer with residents.
Rowan is a big believer in replacing shrugs with hugs as the Meehl House guru.
