THE MEEHL FOUNDATION is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping families and individuals live successfully with Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anxiety, Depression and other serious mental illnesses.
The Foundation of all of our programs is based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and Hypnosis. DBT Therapy is based on the observation that many people with mood or personality disorders have ways of thinking that need to be challenged and changed. This unique program has proven highly successful in the treatment of several mood and personality disorders as well as drug and alcohol addictions.
Through education, therapy, hypnosis, resource location and support, we help families and individuals nationally, develop effective skills for achieving and maintaining emotional stability. Through Tele-Therapy, we provide DBT Therapy and Skills Training nationally to families and individuals who otherwise don't have access to an Intensively Trained DBT Therapist.
In addition, the foundation oversees the operation of The Meehl House and The Venn House, the nation's first DBT based Transitional Residential Treatment Homes. The focus of each program is on helping each resident achieve personal wellness, using a Holistic approach to treatment that combines proven programs, methods and principles, with a caring, supportive, family environment to live in.
The Meehl Foundation offers Families the ability to step out of the chaos and stride successfully into fulfilling relationships with the bipolar person living in their life by giving the family the information and healing tools needed - bipolar information throughout our web site:
"As a couple, and based upon our own experiences, we believe that hope and healing are not just a possibility but a realistic possibility; and with proper treatment for your bipolar love one and conscientious attention from you and others who are concerned, your relationship with your bipolar loved one can do more than survive - it can thrive!".
