THE MEEHL HOUSE

A Transitional Residential Group Home Located on the Texas Gulf Coast

The Meehl House offers a caring supportive and motivational family environment for individuals who are actively seeking a life of mental health. We offer one of the nation's first Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) based Residential Group Homes for individuals with Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anxiety, Depression and Substance Abuse. Residents live with Mark and Debra Meehl, DD, MSW, founders of The Meehl Foundation, and have access to the Meehl Foundation Intensively Trained DBT Team.

The Meehl House program combines Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Skills Training with Life Coaching and personal development programs. Our focus is on helping each individual achieve long-term mental wellness. In addition, this program helps clients learn how to manage their everyday lives, maintain emotional stability, and avoid engaging in crisis generating behaviors. This approach to care and treatment enforces personal wellness using proven programs, methods and principles, while providing a caring, compassionate, family environment to live in.

In a supportive environment, residents learn new skills for achieving and maintaining emotional regulation. They develop distress tolerance skills and learn how to take control of their thoughts and their actions. Most importantly, they learn how to take back and create, a life that is fulfilling and rewarding.

THE MEEHL HOUSE is located at the end of a quiet, tree lined, country road, surrounded by pastures. The custom built home was designed and crafted to provide residents with a comfortable, upscale, home environment while working on their recovery. Flat screen televisions, pillow top mattresses and luxury bedding accent the oversized private rooms and private baths with Jacuzzi tubs.

The Meehl House is known as a warm, friendly home, filled with laughter and conversation, where guests and residents alike feel they are family. Residents are expected to participate in daily activities of the home and help with the chores and errands, volunteer in the community and participate fully in all of the programs, therapy, skills training, homework and readings.
