The Meehl House: A Transitional Residential Group Home

The Meehl House is a Transitional Residential Group Home for the recovery-focused individual diagnosed with BD, depression, anxiety or BPD making the transition from an acute care facility to eventually living independently on their own. The Meehl House is not an acute care facility. Residents are stable, committed to recovery, medication compliant and actively seeking personal recovery and stability. The focus of the Meehl House is a Transitional Residential Group Home is to provide residents with the tools necessary to live stable and independent lives, while creating the necessary support structure for long-term success.

Residents stay anywhere from six months to a year, in private suites with their own master bath, amidst upscale amenities in a clean and comfortable home. Located at the end of a country road, the 3800 square feet of living space allows plenty of room to move about. The two-plus acres of land provide a range of activities and opportunities for work, recreation and relaxation. Allowing only three residents at a time insures that The Meehl House retains the feel of home and family.

The Meehl House is an open model of Recovery, utilizing many community resources in addition to its own recovery-focused program. Residents attend therapy sessions, support groups and classes designed to help residents learn to better regulate their emotions and enhance their quality of life.

The Meehl House Philosophy

Mark and Debra Meehl's decision to develop the Meehl Foundation emerged from their own family journey through the frustrating system of mental health and the lack of resources. Debra's decision to create the Meehl House came from her community as they watched Mark's continued journey to recovery. They believe that providing support through hope, serenity, and healing tools for people with Bipolar Disorder and their families that lives are restored, through the mind and the spirit being healed, and they believe that every resident has the potential to develop and maintain a meaningful role in society.
