We Do Have Some Basic Criteria We Look For In Applicants
To help insure that the focus of The Meehl House remains on recovery and helping each resident develop the skills and tools necessary to have a full and stable life, we do have some basic criteria we look for in applicants.
Applicants, prospective residents must be:
- Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, or Acute Anxiety
- Under the care of a medical doctor and a therapist
- Medication compliant
- Aged 21 to 70
- Ambulatory and capable of self-care and transfer
- Able to operate a motor vehicle and insurable
- Able to participate fully in programs, education, groups, treatments and therapies
- Non-violent! (With no felony convictions and not a registered sex offender)
- Not exhibiting chronic inappropriate behavior
- Not harmful to themself nor others
- Willing to be an active participant in a support group
- Sincere and honest in the desire for recovery
Prior to your arrival at The Meehl House we will require the following documentation and appointments. The Intake Packet will contain all necessary forms, 'due dates' and required appointment dates. The Meehl House will make the incoming resident's initial doctor's and therapist's appointments.
Required Documentation:
- The completed Intake Packet
(Your Intake Packet will contain all necessary forms, due dates and appointment dates) - Signed Medical Releases for doctors' and therapists' records and notes
- Signed HIPA Agreement
- Signed Mental Health Power of Attorney
- Psychiatric evaluation and history from your current doctor(s) and therapist(s)
- A background check clear of any felony charges or convictions
- An initial appointment scheduled with a local doctor and therapist
(The Meehl House will make the incoming resident's initial doctor's and therapist's appointments.)
